Suttoner Match Reports For Saturday 11th June + Youth Reports For that Week

Dorset 1st XI     v   Marnhull
No Report sent but another great victory for the first XI. Big match next week @ Swanage
Dorset 2nd XI  v   Winton Sports

Dear oh dear! 4 defeats on the bounce, I can honestly say this is one of the strongest 2nd XI teams I have ever seen. On paper we are excellent but as we all know the game is played on grass not paper.

Once again a very good start from Clive (38) and Graham (28) and once again a catalogue of disasters from the rest. Nick Dennet (25) and Frankie (16) gave us a fighting chance when we probably should have been out for 100. The final total of 143 didn’t look enough but with 6 bowlers on board funnier things had happened. Obviously the funnier things didn’t happen because we lost but Frankie bowled well (2-16) and Rendy bowled well but Lady Luck was once again elsewhere and we didn’t do enough to entice her back. There is however a special mention for Taylor Broadbent who must have fielded every single ball for the first hour, talk about a ball magnet!! We had a great laugh though!!!!!!

In ten Glen! Drop 5 Clive! Dropped 3 Graham! (sorry mate)  Hows things Bings!

Get a sprint on Clinton!!   Bet that catch don’t stick Nick!! That was w***y Frankie and lots of other one-liners. The one that most of us need to remember is REMEMBER HOW TO BAT YOU PRATT!!!!!! We need a win badly.

Dorset 3rd XI  v  Poole Town

On a bright and sunny trip to Canford Arena we were greeted by a don’t drink the water warning and by the way we haven’t got any running water. Well I didn’t want to disappoint the team so I lost the toss again and they decided to bat. So from our point of view here started the Shaun Lewis show first with the ball 5-74 three clean bowled and Dazzler playing in place of a rather ill Barnaby SICK sorry Gritt) and the sober Tim Gritt taking good catches. The catch of the day goes to the man in the dark glasses Jack off my bowling to give me 1-35.Jimmy, Bill, John Arnold & Will Gordon all tried their luck but with no luck and every time we moved the field it went to where they were just crap field placing by the skipper). They got 284-6.

After tea(8) when it arrived we batted Jack 38 fended of the ball and the sledging from them, Shaun got his first 50 for the club well done now he needs a week away on holiday) including a huge 6 and Turkey with 21 (2 huge sixes) and guess who protected his average YES Bill 3no.We got 146, in  38 overs.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Skippy for letting Will play. The team spirit was good and we stuck at it well keep it up guys its much appreciated.

TURKEY

Hampshire 1st XI   v  BAe
An excellent exceptional opening stand of 79 from Ken Grubb(38) and Steve Warwick (28) built on by Greg Murrays (51no),Chris Vallis (15) and Malcolm Read (19) saw us reach a total of 175-3. At 100-1 they were strolling but good spells of bowling by Chris Davies, Chris Vallis, 2-26 off 12 overs from Derek, Sam with his first league wicket and Ken Grub's 3-37 pulled it back. BAe needed 10 runs from the last over and sadly for us got them. Great performance by all.
Colts XI v

Our under 15 / 16 were left in the charge of Adie while I watched England thrash the Aussies. Sounds like it was a good one to miss! Only Greg (35) and Barney (36) troubled the scorers with 3 run outs in our 110 (19 – 5 at one point).  Fielding and bowling was poor and we lost in the 12th over with Taylor the only wicket taker. Maybe a trip to training on Tuesday may help a few with some defensive shots and tactics! Thanks to the Wards for taking over and thanks to Matty for scoring.

U14's v
The under 14s also had a stiff challenge versus Parley. Fielding first we bowled reasonably well and the strength of their batting forced them to 158- 7. In reply we batted very well. A very solid 29 from Josh Murray, including the shot of the day ( beautiful cover drive – all along the ground), was well supported by Aaron Hayman, Taylor (21), Matty Ward (10) and Lewis Fitzjohn (8no). Once again their class showed through and we fell well short on 108-4. Please remember theses lads eat sleep and drink cricket, they train long hours during the winter and probably think about nothing else other than playing cricket. Our lads eat, sleep and drink before, after and sometimes during cricket. They dabble in various sports and think about hardly anything. That is the only difference!!!!!
U13's v

The under 13s were once again badly let down by a player not turning up for the match. It was always going to be tough playing Poole Town with a full side so to be 1 short was almost impossible. We batted first and with only Matty 30 retired and Charlie 12 making the scorers work, we were all out for 91 (42 extras). Levert faced his first over (11 balls) for the club and enjoyed putting his defensive practice to use. Off the mighty eight went to field  with Charlie one end and Craig the other; their openers reached 31 before Ryan had his first victim behind the stumps; albeit a run out. Matty came on second change and for the second time this season was on a hat- trick when he bowled another " wide " to miss out; he started and finished on a maiden and ended up with 3-15. Tom bowled his first wicket for the club and ended up with 1-19. They passed our score in the 18th over with us giving them 33 extras. Thanks to Nick for scoring and to the boys for not giving up even with one short.
