Colts XI v Christchurch
The under 15/16 also hosted Christchurch on Monday. Batting first, Christchurch were kept to 90-7 with some very good bowling from Lewis Fitzjohn 4-0-16-3, Greg Murray 3-0-3-2, Sam Taylor, Will Gordon and Luke Miller. Good catches for Owen, Jason, Ben and Matty White and a great display behind the stumps from Chris Ballam. In reply, we started badly, losing Greg for 3 and Sam Taylor for 2. Owen farnes showed the others how to bat by pushing the ball into gaps and running. Supported by Jason Locke the scoreboard was ticking over nicely. When Owen was out the headless brigade came in and 1 by one they went out. Jason who has been the star for the Colts this year continued his run with 32 not out and our final total of 86-8 was flattered by an excellent 11 not out from Will Gordon at the end. Their bowling was tight but we should have done better. Many thanks to Adie, Lisa and Matty Ward who were summoned at the last minute to play, only to find out that the manager can’t count. At least you didn’t have to cook Lisa!!!!!
U14's v Christchurch
The under 14s were still euphoric after their win at Wareham and we played hosts to Christchurch. Taylor won the toss and invited them to bat. The opening bowlers did a good job, Lewis Fitzjohn took a wicket with his first ball and both he and Charlie Martin kept the runs to a minimum. Taylor took over from Lewis and a mixture of bowling ranging from awful to very good saw him take 3 wickets for 12 runs. Ali Garrard, playing in his first game for Suttoners, was excellent in the field and took his first wicket to see Christchurch finish on 86-5 (still too many wides 18). In reply, Taylor once again showed the enormous amount of talent he possesses and smashed a quick fire 30 retired to set the stage for back to back victories. When Taylor is not batting things normally go quiet, but Matty Ward and Josh Murray kept the scoreboard moving along nicely with some excellent running. Josh perished for 11 in a bid to beat the rain but Matty carried his bat for a great 27 not out and a second win for the Under 14s. Well done to Andy White who kept wicket well in his first game and thanks to Adie for scoring.
