Suttoner Match Reports For Saturday 27th August

Dorset 1st XI     v  Dorchester
We won the toss for the 10th time this season and put the opposition into bat taking the first wicket in the 6th over with score at 25. They went along quite slowly trying not to give away bowling points but it proved their undoing as we regularly chipped away leaving them 67-5 off 25 overs. This became 99-8 after 32 overs but their last couple of wickets lifted the final score to 134 all out with us gifting 24 in wides and no balls. All the bowlers were excellent and the fielding superb Chris R  3-22 , Paul H  3-13  Mike  2-31  Barry  1-31 and Paul B  1-33.
Our turn came to bat losing Martin at 17 to a stunning catch in the gully but Chris I survived a couple of early chances and together with Laurence took us to 85 in the 15th over. We were cruising it until Mr.Talbot started his tantrums and although officially warned by the umpires it disturbed Chris I  and he was out for 34. Mike followed next ball and Laurence next over for 36. We fought on but at 103-6 it was all getting very tense with Harry nowhere to be seen and Eddie hiding in his car. Along came Chris R  22 to the rescue and together with Andy Coleman with a dogged 11 n.o. we eventually won and at long last promotion to Dorset Premier cricket for 2006.

Report by Eddie Insall

Dorset 2nd XI  v  Branksome

By all accounts we lost the game but gained enough points to stave off relegation

Dorset 3rd XI  v   Blandford 3rds

Last game of the season. John lost the toss and we were put into bat and aftera disatours start 18-3 of which Sam Taylor had got 16 were in our usual poo and @ 40-6 could we be on for an early finish?

Well Turkey had other ideas and with 25(including the obligatory 6), The hair got 17,Nick our mighty midget top scored with 38 and shared a last wicket stand of 50 with Crunch 16no(and a smack on the foot) we reached 164. Once again our most constant run getter was Mr Extras an amazing bloke turns up every week no fuss doesn’t pay a match fee or eat any Tea but still gets us loads of runs.

IN FOR ANOTHER EXCELLENT TEA.The opposition complements us every home game on our Teas but not enough of us compliment our tea ladies.

We wandered out to field and we did Sam Taylor 3 catches, Crunch hobbling to a catch and Skippy flying to his we fielded well and with 8 bowlers used Dave Moss 3-0-21-1,Turkey 6-2-23-0,Jim 8-0-36-2,Rich (the hair) 7-0-18-1,Sam Taylor 6-0-22-0,Shaun 1-0-17-0,Nick 3.5-0-24-0and John 1-0-4-0 and our friend extras 52(45 wides) they reached the target in 34.5 overs.

Thank  you for your help over the season we have had some laughs some good times we ended up the strongest team in the division. Yes we held the rest up before we sank like the titanic.

Don’t forget the AGM and the presentation Evening on dates`to be advised.

TURKEY

Hampshire 1st XI   v   Sway

We lost two wickets in the first over but fought back brilliantly through Aaron (21), Taylor ( 46no) and yet another late stand in Adam (70) to a total of 178-6, which we thought gave us a chance. We grabbed two early wickets but not until they had virtually won it did we take a third. No one bowled badly it was just one of those days. In spite of only winning one game we've had an enjoyable season and the good news is that we did not finish last, we were third from bottom. The bad news is three are relegated, more godd news is that if the club wiches it and enough are interested we can have two sides in the lowest Division. Food for thought.
