Mike Mabbatt then came on and cleaned up the tail with 3-22, with a great display behind the stumps from Lawrence. Weymouth were bowled out for 143. Finchy and Chris Insall set about the target with their usual array of shots, with an opening stand of 78, Chris 28. | Dorset 3rd XI v Christchurch April 30th |
| On a surprisingly sunny afternoon @ Hurn Bridge. I lost the toss (no change there I hear you say) and we were asked to bat on a very wet pitch .Jack and Malc (yes I know its a 2o'clock sart)Reed put down a solid base with 30 off 16 overs(jack 25).Skippy walked out and back again leaving me to face the hatrick I somehow survived and kick started the run feast with 15&out off 1 over and left it to the rest to have fun with Jim(shit jack cant run 3)Straight leading the kids on their way.Taylor our own little runt got his first 50(58) well done & barney 34no including a large 6.Gary Ings 6, Sam (im not that quick barney) Taylor run out on 16 & Richie (the hair) Ballam 12no saved old Bill from batting we got 215? After a tea we marked @9 . We finally got to field around about 5.30.With everybody in the wickets.Rich1-37,jim3-27,Bill1-24,Taylor 1-40,Turkey1-27. We won in the 43 Over in the gloom (more dark than gloom) about 8.30ish.Could someone tell me who took our 2 catches as I was to knackered to remember. A good win to start the season and if anybody could translate some of their teams calling we would be grateful ? |

| I wont dwell long on the under 15 / 16s. We were poor in the field and headless in the batting. Fielding first we gave them an extra 25 balls in wides and allowed them to score 113-3. Wickets for Ben, Luke and Sam. Well bowled William and Barney (the best by far). Batting was poor after a good start from Greg (10) Sam (10) we then fell away until Jason Locke gave us a late display in the dark, to warm us up. Jason scored 27 not out and brightened up a gloomy evening. |
| U14's v Hamworthy |
| On Sunday the under 14s faced a local derby with Hamworthy, fielding first we kept them to 75-6 with wickets to Lewis F 2-13, Taylor 2-15 and Matty Ward 1-8. Craig Dennett deserves a mention for another 2 overs without a wide, for only 7 runs. Our reply was brutal, Taylor still high on adrenalin after scoring 58 for the 3rd team on Saturday, continued his run of form and was undefeated on 30 when he retired. His opening partner Josh carried on the good work and scored 21. Further assistance from Matty Ward (6) Lewis F and Matty Gordon had us home and dry for 4 wickets. Well done to all, again we were short and only had 3 under 14s in the side. A good all round performance. Thanks to Adie for scoring and Dawn for supplying teas and coffees to the frozen few. |
| U13's v Christchurch |
|
Last weekend: The under 13s started with cloudy skies, a wet outfield and thanks to the managers c**k up only 8 players. After winning the toss and putting Christchurch into bat, the bowlers did well and even though wides and no balls were a regular occurrence we kept them to 115-7. Matty Ward 3-17, Toby 1-16, Josh 1-20, Craig Dennet 0-20 and Andy White 0-28. An excellent run out from Andy White and Mattys wide when on a hat trick were the other highlights of the innings. And so onto the batting, well to cut a long story short, they didn’t get us all out but we also didn’t get the runs, we closed on 65-5 with Josh Murray the top scorer. All in all a good performance by 8 players of which only 3 were under 13s. Thanks to Nick for scoring and well done to the new players, Andy, Levert and Dan. |
