| U14's v Mudeford |
| The under 14s had been reduced to 9 men by Josh`s illness and one player not turning up. Luckily Mudeford had the same problem so it was evenly balanced at 9 a side. We batted and once again Taylor dominated for an excellent 30 retired. His opening partner Ali Garrard supported him well and they shared a 56 opening partnership. Ali was the first man out for a fine 17 and the good work at the start was finished off by Lewis Fitzjohn who again batted sensibly for 19 not out and helped the score to 106-3. Our opening bowlers killed the game off in the first 6 overs. Lewis Fitzjohn was virtually unplayable, his figures were 4-2-3-0 (2 were wides). Lewis was well supported by Charlie Martin and there were wickets for Taylor (2-18), Matty Ings (1-12) and Craig Dennett (3-0-21-1). Good catches from Taylor, Ali and Sam Brown rounded off a great performance and gave us a well-deserved win. |
| U13's v Parley |
|
Last weekend: The u13's travelled to top of the table Parley "A". We arrived to be met by club shirts, no county shirts to be seen. They batted first and one by one the county helmets came into view (5 players out of 9), after seven overs they had reached 79 without loss, a combination of big hits and quickly run 1's and 2's. Although we continued to bowl a good length and line, runs were conceded frequently and their innings finished at 185-3. Matt being the pick of the bowlers with 2-30, including a caught and bowled which got their No3 out for the first time in the league this season. A good catch for Ali and the remaining wicket was a run out, from a direct hit by Josh. We still gave them too many wides and no balls giving them nearly 2 extra overs. In we went to bat with Adie's instruction to not give away their wickets, we reached 10 without loss after 4 overs, with only one coming off the bat. With Josh top scoring with 17 including three good boundaries' Charlie (6), Matt (4) and 1 each for Tom, Sam and Ben our innings closed in the 17th over on 44. Parley's umpire complimented the boys on not letting their heads drop in the field and for playing with a straight bat. |
