| Dorset 2nd XI v Cattistock 7th May |

Selection of a
team was tricky and bowlers were very few and far between. So you can
imagine my delight when after winning the toss and putting them into bat
they slumped to 30-5. They did not fold as we would have liked and three
great batting performances from them got them to 131-8. Pick of the
bowlers Barney Grit 8-0-23-4, Rendy 11-3-25-3, and Fitzy 12-5-15-1. As I said we
travelled to Cattistock with a batting side and we didn’t bat well. I
will not beat around the bush we batted very poorly. We were all out for
108 mainly thanks to a rear guard action from Jessie(33) Chris Vallis
(22) and Rendy (20) and the wealth of batting talent that was the top
order were sat in the pavilion watching. The pitch played a major part
in both innings and their intimate knowledge of it gave them the
advantage and edged it to them. |
| Dorset 3rd XI v Lytchett Manor 7th May |
| Here
an Now (part 2) First home game of the season,a bright but cold day @ the Manor. Following tradition I lost the toss and we were asked to bat.Looking at the team sheet who the hell is going to open with Jack(13) so the skipper decideds to lead from the front and all that bullshit! Turkey gets 9 and out(head not on), Skippy with a quick 10 and up steps (Taylor Broadbent) another 50(55) well done.Down at the tail end The Hair (richie Ballam)gets 12,before our over sixties club put on 48 Jocky(26)and Bill protecting his average 6 no,and extras get us to 175 and TEA. After the best tea we have seen at the Manor for a long time we sauntered out to field. The hair broke down after 2overs (worried as julian the mopp wyatt was about),Jimmy 3-43 (straight through every punn intended)Turkey with help from Taylor 1-22,Bill 4-26 and Taylor with help from Turkey 1-12 that was it as they were short,we finished in sunshine a change from the darkness of last week. Just a few more things! Could we warn airtraffic @ hurn of flying score tents.Did anybody spot a run out? Well done my old and injured crew 2 out of 2. Sorry I wont be with you next Sat @ Weymouth (stop cheering !!!!!!!! we may win the toss?)due to work but keep it going, good luck. TURKEY |
