Dorset 1st XI     v   Colehill

We arrived at Colehill knowing that this was a big game for both teams. After a brief warmup i won the toss and decided that we would bat first. A change in the batting line up followed as we found out that Clive Johns was stuck in traffic. Martin Finch and Elliot Brookes went out to open full of confidence. Unfortunately things did not go to plan and Finchy was out bowled in the first over from a delivery that cut back sharply. Fitzy went in and again looked solid until he was bowled again from a delivery which cut back. At that stage we were 20-2 and the same old thoughts started to come back. Garry Coffin went in to join Elliot and that is when we set about turning things around. The ball started to fly to all parts with Elliot coming to the fore with some blistering shots. After scoring 30 odd Garry was out to probably the best sweep shot i have seen, getting caught on the boundary. Elliot continued his frenzy and was ably supported down the order by everyone. Creepy and Lawrence getting into the 30's and Paul Harding scoring 20 something. Elliot was eventually out for 178 and batted superbly. We closed on 364.
Opening the bowling Paul Barber bowled well without luck and Creepy bowled his 10 straight through taking 2 wickets. Changes came and wickets continued to fall with Elliot capping his MOM performance with 3 wickets. Colehill then decided to shut up shop and sent everyone to sleep for 10 overs.
Anyway a great win and great performance by everyone. Keep this going please. Wayfarers this week should be another toughie.
A quick not to say a big hello to Elliotts mum Gail out in Wellington where it is rainy!!!!
Also we welcome James Dillons better half Ashley and say hello to her parents in Australia.

Dorset 2nd XI  v Pavilion Sports

The Dorset 2nd XI entertained Pavilion Sports.  Having lost the toss and asked to field we commenced proceedings. Having only four bowlers available we struggled to make in roads.  They closed their innings on 276-3 with a wicket apiece for Bingsy, Adam and Matt Ward.  A good catch for Matty H and one for Stuart.
We started to bat and after 19 overs were 69-5.  Stuart joined Nick at the wicket and they showed everyone how to bat, when Nick was out in the 39th over for a good 42 they had put on a 96, 6th wicket partnership.  Stuart(56) fell on the same score and followed last weeks 34 no with his maiden 50 for the club.  Our innings finished on 184-7

Hampshire 1st XI  v  Alderholt 2nds   Taylors first Ton
A precarious 43-3 was turned into a glorious 292-4 by a wonderful innings from Taylor Broadbent of 131 no and an exellent 79 from James Burden . Richie Rob 24 and Lee Walker 19 not out helped out. They didn't really chase and finished on 192-5 with only Derek 4-50 being lucky except for getting cramp in both legs. Good points again though.
Hampshire 2nd XI   v Swann Green

Swan Green away 15/7/06

The day of crazy cricket let me explain, we have all seen crazy golf courses well the outfield was like all the holes rolled into one plus 4 trees in side the boundary. Well after getting the cows off the out field and yes we should have played cow pat bingo.Well after all that I won the toss and astounded their captain by electing to bat he did offer me the chance to change my mind but I can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory so I still fielded first. They scored 286-5 Jim 1 wkt Barney & Nick with 2 wkts each as we chased the ball round the trees and up the south face of eiger dodging pats, tree routes, stumps and the odd rabbit warren by tea we were knackered. So after a lavish tea (8) we sauntered out to bat Barney 29, Josh Murray 24 and Jim 42 we got to 153 so we did get a few points. Could somebody give up on the idea that the skipper can play a defensive shot and just uncage the animal and let him go. The ten of us had a Great Spirit and good laugh yes we lost but hey ho there`s always next week.

Turkey.

U15's  v

U14's  v

U13's  v Bournemouth Vultures

Bournemouth Vultures were the U13's visitors on Saturday.  Matt lost the toss and they batted.  Charlie, back in his opening bowling spot got a wicket in his first over as did Tom K.  Wickets continued to fall and their innings closed on 116 all out.  Charlie 4-0-18-1, Tom K 4-1-10-2, Tom Goulding in his first U13's match 3-0-32-2 and this weeks pick of the bowlers 12 year old Ryan Turner 1.3-0-3-2, leaving himself on a hat trick ball next season.  Good ground fielding helped the bowlers with 2 catches from Tom K and 1 from Matt.  Kris Blanch took his first catch behind the stumps to add to his stumping earlier in the season and becomes the first youth keeper to take a catch this year.  Kris had not kept wicket until part way through the season, when he volunteered for the job when we had nobody to do it.  Since he started he has improved in each game and with continued encouragement from Gary on the boundary he has done well; Gary even appealing for the run out that Kris got in today's game!!
In we went to bat; Matt and Charlie opening once again, they started off with excellent quick singles before Charlie fell on 18 for 9 runs.  Tom K joined Matt and they continued scoring runs until Matt retired (for the 5th time in 11 games) on 31.  Tom G then joined Tom K and he hit the ball hard to all areas of the ground and retired on 33.  Tom K (24no) kept his head and with Craig's (2no) assistance we won in the 14th over.  Tom K hitting a four to obtain our highest score of the season 120.  This is the last match of the season and for me as manager it has been enjoyable.  We have played 16 boys this year each one has, I hope, enjoyed himself.  Out of 11 matches we won 3 but in the league we won 3 out of 6 and the pleasing thing is two of them were against Parley and Bournemouth, who normally beat us.  Things look good for next year as, of the 16 players used, 8 of them are only 12 and available next season.  Thanks to Nick for scoring all season and the parents for supporting us and getting the boys to the games.
