Firstly a big THANK YOU to everybody involved in getting us 11 players (mobile phone companies must love us). On the first decent sat of the season John lost the toss and was asked to field . Jim 12-2-40-2 plus a catch, Glen (the miser) Urquart 11-3-19-3,Nick (the mighty midget) Arnold 4-0-17-1 including a certain Clinton Stevenson with his only ball to him for a duck clean bowled. Barney and John with a wicket each. Plus catches from John, Our man in the dark glasses (Jack) and Mike Hancock with his first catch for us and only 20 extras this week and the rest of the team for a brilliant display in the hot conditions they got to 166-8 of 42 overs.     TEA 7.5

Jack(9) and Mike led us into the heat before Mike was left on the floor bleeding from a gash to the head inflicted by an ex member of our club(see above) who couldn’t even say sorry. Barney (17), Glen with a match turning 25,Ben (long handle) Hunter (19), Nick (19) John with a skippers innings (19no) and Mike (22 no) were the hero’s as we reached 167-9 to record our first win of the season in the 40th over.

Well done guys you made my day umpiring it by winning with a brilliant Team spirit.

U15's  v  Bournemouth Foxes

The under 15s were once again involved in a thriller this time at Chapel Gate. We lost the toss and they batted their final total of  127 included 6 sixes. We did take 5 of their wickets. Lewis Fitzjohn with 4-0-27-3 and Tommy Kier (Under 13) 3-0-33-2 doing the damage. Several dropped catches cost us a few runs and 18 from the last over didn’t help either. Their opening bowlers were strong but Taylor and Josh kept the scoreboard moving both playing some lovely shots. Josh was first out with 40 on the board and Taylor went on to retire with another very good 35. Then the fireworks started. Matty Ings and Matty Gordon both perished in the run chase but it last minute stand in Reece Vincent that got us all excited. A very well struck 15 not out and runs from Lewis including a 6 had us finishing only 4 runs short in the final over. Great game , Great Atmosphere and Great Fun.

U14's  v  Wayfarers

The Under 14s were dreadful and I mean dreadful. With the exception of Josh Murray who retired on 33 we never had another batsman above 4. Back to the good old days of across the line and YAHOO cricket. A couple did try and stop the rot so credit to Craig Dennett, Kristian Blanch and Scott Wheeler who all tried hard. Luckily extras made our score look better with 20 making a total of 67. We never had enogh and despite 2 early breakthroughs they passed our total in the 13th over for 2 wickets.

U13's  v

U10's  v  Poole Town

The under 10s is a big challenge for us; not only for the boys but for me as well as I don’t think they should be playing with a proper cricket ball. They’ve got plenty of time when they are older to break their fingers playing cricket……..so after negotiations I agreed we would bowl to their batsmen with a hard ball but they would use an incrediball to us. After they bowled 18 wides they moaned and moaned and criticized their own fielders, something which our under 10s don’t do, if anything they encourage too much especially when the bowler is just about to bowl and our fielders are shouting at the bowler to get em out!!!!!!!!! Ah the etiquette of the under 10s!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We batted first and every single batsmen tried their hardest, didn’t back away to Poole’s County bowlers and when they did wallop the bowler their umpire deducted 1 run off Jake for not putting his bat down, how mean is that, they are LEARNING. We only lost 4 wickets which was a brilliant effort and we used our new pads gloves and helmets which slowed our running down a bit, have you ever seen a robot run? Come down on a Sunday morning very funny but we’re getting there. Anyway we finished on 213 which was a brilliant effort, well done lads.

Now on to bowling and fielding with a real cricket ball, BRILLIANT our bowling was, fantastic; we kept it straight most of the time.  We were playing against county players and a harder ball which they could hit it a bit further so instead of the lads breaking their fingers they chased after the ball really well. Only bowled 9 wide’s and then came the moment every under 10 will savor who was there…………Toby Coffin bowling out their County Captain, haha!  Every one jumped on him reminding the batsmen he is only 7 brilliant true Suttoners camaraderie already but more was to come. The last over of the match and Jacob Martin came running in taking 2 wickets and poor George dropped the last ball of the match to make it 3 in one over but at least he made an effort just like all the other bowlers who tried really hard and bowled really really well. Well done lads keep it going
