Double wicket competition
Twenty six players converged on the manor on Sunday morning (9 in good time) for our first double wicket competition one of a few events celebrating our 40th anniversary. They were all handicapped and drawn into pairs put into groups, using both squares from which the following five pairs took part in a round-robin Final.
Creepy + Prov, Adam + Richard Fagence, Nelly + Josh Murray, Paul B + Bingsy and Grim Tit + Sean H.
After some exellent, some hilarious and some wet cricket Grim Tit and Sean H lost to Creepy and Prov.
Our thanks to the umpires, Fitzy Lewis, Bill Nich and Adie, to our caterers Lisa, Dawn, Jocky and Karl, to our two scorers Karen and Chris Gosby, to all the players especially Matty Ward for racing back from a colts game and to Richard Fagence who came in from Dorchester.
Thanks to all the spectators for staying the distance. We have a sneaky suspicion that this could be a yearly event and give the ‘ Richard Coleman Trophy’ some well deserved use.
